IT’S NOT AN ANDY

Brillo_blogOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIn 1968 Andy Warhol started making Brillo Soap Pads installations. Copies of ordinary packaging of soap pads you use to clean your pots and pans.

In the 1990’s curator Pontus Huntén (The Modern Museum Stockholm, Sweden) revealed a new Brillo installation made by Andy Warhol, who died 3 years before. In 2007 it was revealed that this art installation was a fake or a copy and that it was not authorized by the Warhol foundation.

The box in the second photo is also a copy *smirk*. It’s a scented eraser in a “Pillow” packaging. Part of a set of 5 boxes, all parodies of cleaning products. Sold by Kikkerland Design.
